Hawa Mahal - JaipurAn Introduction :
Jaipur is the land of forts and palaces. Jaipur is popularly known as the "Pink city"and is the capital of Rajasthan. The city constructed by Maharajah Sawai Jai Singh II, is designed as per the Hindu treatise " Shilp Shastra" and is called as the "first planned city of the country". Jaipur is nearly 262 kilometers from New Delhi, and is well connected by road, rail and air.
The city of Jaipur is the prime example of the culture and tradition of the Rajputana Empire. In this land, towering forts were built for the fortification of the city. The royal city of Jaipur owes its name to the founder of the city, Sawai Jai Singh II (1693-1743) who founded Jaipur in 1627. The city was well planned, structured, and had one of the best drinking water systems in the medieval world. Being the capital of Rajasthan, the city is mirror to every thing that Rajasthan signifies, be its culture, tradition, society, and, most important, the people.
